Des Pieds et Des Mains

“Des Pieds et des Mains, original choreographic creation, bring together two dancers - choreographers (a tap dancer and a contemporary dancer) and two musicians - composers (a percussionist and a guitarist) who meet on stage and compose together a percussive and melodic opus at the junction of styles and disciplines. In Des Pieds et des Mains, music can emerge under the steps and in the breathing of the dancers, and dance starts where it is not awaited : on the cords of the guitar, in the gestures of the drummer which open out between the sounds. The musicians are influenced in their play by the presence of the dancers and the tempo of their movements, and reciprocally : a dialogue is established, each evening renewed. All of this is the result of the four performers choice to invest precisely the space which separates them - space being understood as well in its sensible dimension (between the bodies, between silences and sounds), as in its cognitive dimension (between disciplines). It is the interval, interstice space, which means differences and at the same time invites to the meeting. Unknown and paradoxical space, fragile as much as fertile, where one cannot venture without developing a full availability; movement towards the other which is part of the human desire to share something, to exchange, while letting open out the identities. Opening act :Edouard Leys Trio
Sideman pianist in various groups, Edouard Leys presents today his own compositions in trio. Influenced by pianists as Ahmad Jamal or Franck Avitabile, he developps a very personnal style; an esthetic sence of melody sometimes coloured with gospel, open arrangements... and this is with Arnaud Grosfilley (doublebass) and Nicolas Favrel (drums), two musicians, who he is sharing other numerous musical experiences with.

The dancers will be accompanied by the Pascal Salmon’s trio, “a first class trio” (Ouest-France); Pascal Salmon at the piano, pure sensuality, Cédric Alexandre, fluidity at the doublebass, Stéphane Stanger, light and lightness on drums.

Hervé Le Goff (Paris), Isabelle Girault (Rennes) and the NeoFeet company will also perform tonight.

All dancers (tap, lindy-hop, flamenco...), musicians and singers, amateurs or professionnals are invited to join the Edouard Leys Trio(piano, doublebass, drums) to improvise together on jazz standards, swing as wellas latin, modern and groove, but also traditionnal musics, hip-hop... Hit and heat the floor !!!!
